How to change a heating element in an oven?

Jul 26, 2023

The oven is an essential part of every kitchen, and ensuring that it's working correctly is important. A heating element in an oven is the part that's responsible for heating food when you're baking or cooking. Over time, it can become damaged or broken, affecting the oven's ability to produce heat. Here's how to change a heating element in an oven:

Firstly, make sure that the oven is disconnected from its power source. This is extremely important to avoid any accidents. Typically, the oven's electrical plug is located behind it, or the circuit breaker connected to the oven can be switched off.

Next, remove the oven racks to expose the heating element. The heating element will be located at the top or bottom of the oven's interior. The element can be detached by using a screwdriver to remove any screws that are holding it in place. Make sure you keep any screws safe during this process.

Take the old heating element out and replace it with a new one. Gently push the new element into place, taking care not to bend or damage it. Re-attach any screws that were removed at the start of the process.

Finally, plug the oven back in or switch the circuit breaker back on. Test the oven to make sure that the new heating element is working correctly.

Changing a heating element in an oven is a straightforward process, as long as you follow these simple steps. With just a little bit of care and attention, almost anyone can change a heating element and have their oven working again in no time.
