What are the different types of thermocouples?

1. Type K (Chromel-Alumel)

Materials: Chromel (Nickel-Chromium alloy) and Alumel (Nickel-Aluminum alloy).

Temperature Range: -270°C to 1372°C (-454°F to 2502°F).

2. Type J (Iron-Constantan)

Materials: Iron (Fe) and Constantan (Copper-Nickel alloy).

Temperature Range: -40°C to 750°C (-40°F to 1382°F).

3. Type T (Copper-Constantan)

Materials: Copper (Cu) and Constantan (Copper-Nickel alloy).

Temperature Range: -200°C to 350°C (-328°F to 662°F).

4. Type E (Chromel-Constantan)

Materials: Chromel (Nickel-Chromium alloy) and Constantan (Copper-Nickel alloy).

Temperature Range: -200°C to 900°C (-328°F to 1652°F).

5. Type N (Nicrosil-Nisil)

Materials: Nicrosil (Nickel-Chromium-Silicon alloy) and Nisil (Nickel-Silicon alloy).

Temperature Range: -200°C to 1300°C (-328°F to 2372°F).

6. Type S (Platinum-Rhodium)

Materials: Platinum (Pt) and Rhodium (Rh).

Temperature Range: 0°C to 1600°C (32°F to 2912°F).

Choosing the right type of thermocouple depends on the specific temperature range, sensitivity, and application requirements. Each type offers a balance between accuracy, cost, and temperature range suitability, so it's important to match the thermocouple's specifications to the needs of your project.
