Silicone rubber surface heaters are thin, flexible and light. Their maximum temperature is 200°C. The glass fiber grille strengthens the silicone laminate to make the silicone rubber heater strong and dimensionally stable. The heating loops in these heaters are designed to be evenly distributed and close to the heating surface to transfer heat in a fast, uniform and efficient manner. The silicone rubber heater is moisture-proof and chemical-resistant. They can be designed with glue, stick to flat or curved surfaces, and can have many functions (such as thermostat, temperature sensor or thermal fuse). Silicone rubber surface heaters are not suitable for continuous exposure to vacuum, radiation and oil. They can be manufactured with two types of heating circuits: Winding and etching foil. Each structure has its own characteristics and must be selected accordingly. The winding circuit is formed by creating a specific pattern of resistance wires (single or multiple strands) wound on the hot core to form strength and flexibility. Etched foil circuits are manufactured by chemically etching resistive circuits from nickel-based alloy resistive foils (0.0005 to 0.004 inches thick) in a clean room process, similar to the manufacture of printed circuit boards. Etched foil circuits are suitable for complex heat distribution patterns. In addition, because the resistive element has a large surface area (75% of the surface), these circuits have a higher watt density compared to winding circuits.
