How to Use an Immersion Copper Rod Heater with Thermostat

Jul 17, 2025

1. Installation
Choose a suitable water tank or container that matches the heater's voltage and power rating. Insert the copper rod into the threaded opening (typically G1" or G1.5") and seal it properly using Teflon tape or a gasket. Tighten securely, but avoid over-tightening to prevent damage.

2. Electrical Connection
Turn off the main power supply before wiring. Connect the live (L), neutral (N), and earth (E) wires according to the wiring diagram provided. Ensure that the voltage supplied (e.g., 220V, 240V, or 380V) matches the heater's rated voltage.

3. Thermostat Setting
Adjust the temperature using the control dial, typically within a range of 30°C to 75°C. If equipped with a manual reset button (usually red), press it to reset the unit if it has tripped due to overheating.

4. Operation
Once the rod is fully submerged in water and the unit is wired correctly, turn on the power. The heater will begin to operate and automatically maintain the set temperature. Some models may include an indicator light to show operating status.

5. Safety Tips
Always ensure the rod is completely submerged in water before powering on. Do not use the heater in flammable liquids. Avoid dry heating, which can damage the element. Regularly check for scale buildup, especially in hard water areas. Use with a proper circuit breaker or safety fuse.

6. Maintenance
Inspect the heater periodically for corrosion, loose connections, or scale buildup. If performance declines or the thermostat becomes unreliable, replace the faulty component. Descale the rod when needed to prolong the lifespan of the heater.
