Why use a flexible heater to heat the battery?
Mar 11, 2022
Using flexible heaters, like Polyimide film heaters and silicone rubber heaters, to heat batteries is for optimal battery performance. When batteries are in cold environments, they can only maintain battery life and save power when they are in a temperature-controlled environment or connected to a heating system. This is why a flexible heating element for a battery is needed.

A battery heater is a device that provides uniform or concentrated heating to the battery as needed. They need to be flexible, thin, strong, and in most cases surface adhesive. These flexible heaters can be vulcanized to the backsheet to fit the shape of the cell or battery pack. These heaters help maintain and control battery temperature to keep them powered and functional.
Polyimide heating films consists of etched foil circuits laminated with thin polyimide films. They offer temperature capability up to 500 Fahrenheit along with excellent bond strength and heat transfer characteristics.

Heaters made of silicone rubber provide heating up to 200 Fahrenheit. They transfer heat quickly and evenly and are resistant to chemicals and moisture.
