Protection Of Stainless Steel Heating Elements

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel heating elements is not absolute, but relative and conditional. At present, there is no steel grade that does not corrode in any environment. Stainless steel heating elements are also not applicable in any environment, so rust may occur. The long-term existence of rust spots not only affects the appearance, but also reduces the service life due to surface corrosion of stainless steel tubes. Rust spots on the surface of stainless steel pipes should be treated in time. Today we will talk about how to deal with the rust spots on the heating element?

 INDUSTRIAL HEATER

chemical method:

Use spray or pickling paste to assist the re-passivation of the rusted part to form a chromium oxide film, so that it can regain its corrosion resistance. Apply the pickling paste to the surface to be treated, the thickness of the coating film is 0.5-2mm, the general reaction time is 3-10 minutes or more, when it is used below 0°C or where the oxide scale is thick, the time needs to be extended appropriately. It is best to use a brush to wash several times during the treatment process. After the surface oxide scale is completely removed, rinse it with clean water (lime water or alkaline water is better) to avoid rust back. After pickling, in order to remove all contaminants and acid residues, it is very important to rinse properly with clean water. After all treatments, re-polishing with polishing equipment, and then sealing with polishing wax. For those with slight rust spots, you can also use 1:1 gasoline and engine oil mixture to wipe off the rust spots with a clean cloth.

Mechanical method:

Sandblasting, using glass or ceramic particle shot blasting, annihilation, brushing and polishing. It is possible to use mechanical methods to wipe off the pollution caused by the previously removed materials, polishing materials or annihilation materials. All kinds of pollution, especially foreign iron particles, may become a source of corrosion, especially in humid environments. Therefore, mechanically cleaned surfaces should be properly cleaned under dry conditions. The use of mechanical methods can only clean the surface, and cannot change the corrosion resistance of the material itself. Therefore, it is recommended to re-polishing with polishing equipment after mechanical cleaning and sealing with polishing wax.
