How to choose resistance wire

Apr 25, 2022

As the core material of electric heating tube, today, here is to introduce about how to chose resistance wire. There are the two most used electric heating wires---iron-chromium-aluminum and nickel-chromium alloy wire. The following will mainly analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the two for your reference!

The main advantages and disadvantages of iron-chromium-aluminum heating wire:

Advantages:

1.Iron-chromium-aluminum heating wire has a high operating temperature, the highest operating temperature can reach 1400 degrees, (0Cr21A16Nb, 0Cr27A17Mo2, etc.)

2.Long service life, high surface load, good anti-oxidation performance, high resistivity, and cheap.

Disadvantages: Mainly due to low high temperature strength, as the temperature increases, its plasticity increases, the components are easily deformed, not easy to bend and repair, and are relatively brittle, so FeCrAl is easy to break in a vibrating working environment.

The main advantages and disadvantages of nickel-chromium heating wire:

Advantages:

1.The high temperature strength is higher than that of iron chromium aluminum.

2.it is not easy to deform under high temperature use.

3.Its structure is not easy to change, with good plasticity.

4. Its emissivity is high, non-magnetic, strong corrosion resistance, long service life.

Disadvantages: Due to the use of scarce nickel metal materials, the price of this series of products is up to several times higher than that of FeCrAl, and the operating temperature is lower than FeCrAl.
