How to Troubleshoot Common Issues with Flexible Heaters?

1. Heater Not Warming Up

Check Power Supply: Ensure correct voltage and current are being supplied.

Inspect Connections: Look for loose or damaged wiring, connectors, or terminals.

Test Resistance: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heater terminals. Compare with manufacturer specifications.

Control System Check: Verify that the thermostat, temperature controller, or sensor is functioning correctly.

2. Uneven Heating

Installation Issue: Make sure the heater is properly bonded to the surface with no air gaps or wrinkles.

Surface Compatibility: Ensure the mounting surface is clean, flat, and thermally conductive.

Overstretching: For flexible heaters, overstretching during installation can cause uneven heat distribution.

3. Overheating or Burnout

Check Temperature Control: Malfunctioning thermostats or sensors can cause overheating. Replace if necessary.

No Thermal Cutoff: Make sure a thermal fuse or cutoff is included to prevent runaway temperatures.

Surface Insulation: Ensure appropriate thermal insulation is used to avoid heat buildup.

4. Physical Damage

Inspect Visually: Look for cracks, cuts, or burn marks on the heater surface.

Avoid Sharp Bends: Repeated bending or sharp folds can damage internal heating elements.

Chemical Exposure: Check for corrosion or degradation due to exposure to harsh chemicals or moisture.

5. Controller Malfunction

Reset the Controller: Try a power reset or factory reset, if supported.

Replace Batteries (if applicable): Low battery in some controllers can cause erratic behavior.

Update Firmware: For smart controllers, check for software or firmware updates.
