What is an IBC Heater?

An IBC heater is a flexible, durable, and waterproof heating pad or blanket that is wrapped around the outside of an IBC tote. It is then typically insulated with a jacket to maximize efficiency. The heater is connected to a temperature controller to maintain the fluid at a precise setpoint.

How IBC Heaters Are Applied (The Setup)

A typical IBC heating system consists of several components:

The Heater Itself: A flexible silicone rubber heater is the most common type. It is wrapped around the steel cage of the IBC, making direct contact with the polypropylene bottle.

Thermal Insulation Jacket: This is a critical component. After the heater is installed, an insulated cover is placed over the entire tote. This minimizes heat loss to the environment, drastically improving efficiency and reducing energy costs.

Temperature Controller: A thermostat or PID controller is used to monitor the temperature (via a sensor) and cycle the heater on and off to maintain the desired setpoint. The sensor is often placed between the heater and the tote or is a probe that goes directly into the liquid.

Power Connection: The heater is connected to a standard or industrial power supply (e.g., 120V, 240V).
