What is the Resistance Value of the 220V Flange Heating element

Mar 04, 2020

There is no fixed value for the resistance value of the 220V flange electric heating tube, because the different shape design, power, and wiring methods will affect it.

For example: 380V / 30KW flat flange electric heating tube, composed of 6 U-shaped tubes, what is the single resistance value?

Analysis:

The total power of 6 heating tubes is 30KW, so the power of one heating tube is 5KW.

The connections between the points of the flange heating tube are by copper or aluminum plates. It is assumed that the resistance value of a single wire is measured without the plates.

In the Y-type wiring method, the voltage of a single heating tube is 220V, then the resistance value of a single heating tube is 220 * 220/5000 = 9.68Ω, finally the resistance value between each point is 9.68Ω.

When connecting with triangle wiring method, the resistance value between the points measured after the connection = single tube resistance value * 2/3

In the triangle wiring method, the voltage of a single heating tube is 380V, then the resistance value of a single heating tube is 380 * 380/5000 = 28.88Ω, finally the resistance value between each point is 28.88 * 2/3 = 19.25Ω.
